Since childhood I have sought the artist’s
way of life. I graduated in liberal arts from San Francisco
State University and became a writer, director, stage set
and costume designer, and producer for children’s
theatres in northern California. When I lost a great deal
of my hearing to a virus, my focus shifted to the fine art
of painting.
I went back to college(s) and took various
art classes and if I were to matriculate again I would have
the equivalent of a BA in Art. I have studied with Daniel
Green, Gary Pruner, Anita Wolff, Gregory Kondos and various
other artists.
My roots are in classical and impressionist
painting. However, in recent years my work has focused on
synthesizing the impressionist-expressionist genre’s
with elements of abstraction and surrealism. Expressionism
is the happy fit. I paint both figurative and landscape,
with figurative being my primary emphasis.
Most of my figurative work now finds a
home on the East Coast, in particular Sarasota, Florida
where my “circus” and performance themes coincide
nicely with the Ringling Bros. circus home base and museum.
